I’m back with more Halloween desserts. Today the focus is on Devil’s Food Cupcakes. A little bit creepy but a whole lot of classy, these Devil’s Food Cupcakes with Wicked Red Velvet Frosting are sure to complete any Halloween party.
I’ve never been into the whole “gory Halloween food” thing that happens in October. I mean, I can appreciate how much a fellow blogger can make potatoes look like human fingers or have a cupcake oozing fake blood, but they all just sort of give me the creeps.
This is coming from a woman who refuses to watch horror films because regular old thriller films like Signs freak her out way too much. I cringe at movies like Saw or any sort of exorcisms….
don’t even get me started on movies that involve possessed dolls. Or clowns.
Nothing should smile all day every day.
Nooooooooo thank you.
Give me a batch of these cupcakes and a copy of Hocus Pocus, and I’ll be set on Halloween night.
Or Nightmare Before Christmas – now that’s a creepy yet fun film I can get behind! Who can resist adorable claymation and songs about Halloween and Christmas?
The more fitting question would be – who would want to resist it?
But back to these cupcakes! Imagine a rich, moist, chocolatey devil’s food cupcake, topped with a fluffy and smooth red velvet frosting. Finish them off with a few festive sprinkles/candies (I went for black sixlets) and you are set for any Halloween party at work, school, or home!
The chocolate cupcakes come together in no time, and keep well overnight if your planning on serving them the next day for some kind of shindig.
Can I say “shindig”? Is that still a word people say?
It’s vastly more fun to say than “party” or “bash”, so I’m going to stick with it.
I’ll be back on Friday with a recipe for pumpkin whoopie pies, so be sure to check back first thing in the morning!
