So remember how I thought I’d post Tuesday and Thursday this week?
Yeah, well, that was a silly idea. I woke up at 3AM Wednesday for my early flight to Tampa, and barely made it to 9PM before collapsing, exhausted, onto a bed and sleeping for a million hours.
Needless to say, I sortaaaaa forgot to write this post until the next morning.
But that’s okay. I am on vacation, after all. Now I can share these delectably fudgy brownies with you to kick off the weekend!
I know I’ve been on the eggnog and peppermint bandwagon lately, what with eggnog truffles, eggnog funfetti cupcakes, and that decadent white chocolate peppermint fudge…
It’s just so too much to resist!
But I decided that today, I would share with you a chocolatey classic that can be enjoyed any old day you are craving something sweet.
These brownies would also complete any holiday dessert table, but I won’t jump into any Christmas craziness today. 😉
Growing up I always made brownies from a box. I remember this one giant box my mom would pick up at Costco’s; it was Ghiradelli Brand and they were always the perfect ending to dinnertime.
But, I realized I never tried to make brownies completely from scratch before! :O
What a travesty.
I’ve made other bloggers’ brownies before, and they are all fabulous, but they weren’t that classic, simple, fudgy brownie from my childhood.
Don’t misunderstand me; red velvet cheesecake brownies, brownies filled with Twix bars or topped with cookie dough are all sublime.
They just aren’t that classic sweet treat I remember from my childhood.
So that’s where these brownies show up. Dense, chocolatey, fudgy, and chewy, they will bring smiles to anyone you choose to share them with this holiday season.
Or, you know, hide them for your own personal secret stash…
It may be difficult to part with them once you take a bite!
I had planned to showcase these at an amazing Christmas party last Saturday; alas, snow and freezing rain kept everyone at home and left me with roughly a dozen brownies to devour.
In truth, it could have been worse. Imagine if I were to be snowed in without brownies?!
Let’s not even think about such a thing.
You can top these with a simple chocolate frosting or leave them plain depending on your chocolate cravings. I personally opted for a dusting of powdered sugar, since it reminded me of the freshly fallen snow outside.
I have a feeling there is going to be a lot more snow this winter, which means I need a million more cookies, brownies, and cupcakes in the event of a snowpocalypse.
No one wants to be treat-less in the middle of a snowpocalypse.
I’ll be back on Monday with another chocolatey treat to enjoy this season (and all year long!) so be sure to check back soon!
